Capreolus Ecology is owned by Simon Powne. He spent his early years working on farms and in the countryside before commencing a career in HM Armed Forces. Using a broad skill set, focused on delivering to the highest professional standards, he is particularly focused on understanding and managing mammals across a range of habitats. He has been awarded an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation with Edinburgh Napier University. Simon has been elected to full membership of the Royal Society of Biology (MRSB). He holds numerous vocational qualifications in deer management including DSC1 and 2. He is qualified with NPTC in chainsaw use including large diameter trees and multi-stem windblown trees and is also qualified to use knapsack sprayers. Working dogs are essential in ethical deer and wildlife management with Bruce and Angus (Hungarian Vizslas) forming part of that team. Simon is fortunate enough to work with other like minded people and can call on them to assist with most jobs when required.
2023 Update - I’m working for the National Trust as the Wildlife Manager covering the Somerset Coast and Countryside area including part of Exmoor. This is a full time position, but I still remain available to help on smaller projects.
